saturday morning i will be shooting in the Sure Shot for Life event benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. i will be on Brinker Intl’s team 2. w00t. the shoot is at backwoods in aubrey. anyone interested in the sport is more than welcome to come on out.

basically sporting clays is a course setup with clay bird traps. as you walk the course there are stations you stop at to shoot the clay birds. top count out of 100 wins in the end. teams scores are averaged out to make team scores. http://www.sureshotforlife.com/ has more info.

other than that, there is not alot going on. tommorow is my first payday with the company. i’m not going to work very late but i’ll be stopping by the gun range, i think, on my way home to get a few rounds of 5 stand in. if anyone wants to join, give me a call on my cell. we can set something up.

Close your eyes and go back…

Before the Internet or the MAC

Before semi automatics and crack

Before SEGA or Super Nintendo…

Way back…

I’m talkin’ bout hide and go seek at dusk.

Red light, Green light.

Playing KICKBALL & dodge ball until your porch light came on.

Mother May I?

Red Rover

Hula Hoops

Running through the sprinkler

Happy Meals

Wait…

Watchin’ Saturday Morning cartoons

Or, what about legends of the hidden temple, global guts, double dare, and who could forget Snick, ARE YOU AFFRAID OF THE DARK!

Fat Albert, Road Runner, Smurfs, Picture Pages, G-Force & He-Man, Wonder Woman & Scooby Doo Underoos

Playing Dukes of Hazard

Catchin’ lightning bugs in a jar

Christmas morning…

Your first day of school

Bedtime Prayers and Goodnight Kisses

Climbing trees

Getting an ice cream off the ice cream truck

A million mosquito bites and sticky fingers

Jumpin’ down the steps

Jumpin’ on the bed

Pillow fights

Runnin ‘ till you were out of breath

Laughing so hard that your stomach hurt

Being tired from playin’

Your first crush…

Rainy days at school meant playing “Heads up 7UP” in the classroom.

Remember that?

I’m not finished yet…

Kool-Aid was the drink of the summer

Giving your friends a ride on your handlebars

Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school

Class Field Trips

When nearly everyone’s mom was at home when the kids got there.

When a quarter seemed like a fair allowance, and another quarter a Miracle.

When any parent could discipline any kid, or feed him or use him to carry groceries, and nobody, not even the kid, thought a thing of it.

When your parents took you to McDonalds and you were so cool.

When being sent to the principal’s office was nothing compared to the fate awaited a misbehaving student at home.

Basically, we were in fear for our lives but it wasn’t because of drive by shooting s, drugs, gangs, etc.

Our parents and grandparents were a much bigger threat! And some of us are still afraid of ‘em!

Didn’t that feel good, just to go back and say, “Yeah, I remember that!”

I want to go back to the time when…

Decisions were made by going “eeny-meeny-miney-mo”
Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, “Do over!”
“Race issue” meant arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in
“Monopoly”

Catching fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening

It wasn’t odd to have two or three “best” friends.

Being old referred to anyone over 20.

The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties.

Nobody was prettier than Mom

Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better

It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the “big people” rides at the amusement park.

Getting a foot of snow was a dream come true.

Abilities were discovered because of a “double-dog-dare”

Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles.

The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.

Water balloons were the ultimate, ultimate weapons.

Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors.

If you can remember most or all of these, then you have LIVED!!!

Pass this on to anyone who may need a break from his or her “grown up” life…

I double dog dare you.

Yes you.
So dooooo it.

so much has been going on.

since my sisters 10 year highschool class reunion was a week or two ago, it inspired me to track down some people from school. all the people i lost track of due to the exciting things that have happened to us all since then.

i found a few people from nimitz on myspace. i cant believe how many people i’ve talked too over the last week. it’s amazing what changes in 3 years.

so i sit here… 22. btw: happy belated birthday to chelsea, she’s now 21. i’ll have to take her out for a drink or something. anyways… i’m 22 and i’m lost.

i’ve found a new since of direction for my career. i contacted a recruiter for the USCG but the email bounced and came back to me. i’ll have to look more into it.

tonight i watched the WWE 3 hours RAW extravaganza. i have not seen wrestling since like i graduated. yes, cheesey, but it’s in me. every since i used to do the backyard wrestling that entertainment just gets the addrenaline flowin. i’m so not a fan of the cheese wrestling story lines, its the event that draws me in. the showmanship. it’s electric. anyways… i’d love to be a pro wrestler. shawn micheals can still kick ass, steve austin still owns any croud he confronts, and vince mcmahon still sucks. kevin von eric has aged very well. he’s old school. one of steve austin’s mentors. i can go on all day about this… anyways…

i know what i want to do but i dont know how to get there. i’ve been talking to a few people who are in teh profession and it’s appearently not easily accomplished. elite status holds true. for now i’m going to ride the technology train that i’ve been on for 10 years now. we’ll see how things go over the next week or two and i’ll go from there. i’ll be sure to keep you all updated.

for now i’ll leave you with some lyrics…

Gary Allan - I’m Doin’ My Best

Single six months yesterday
Thought I oughta celebrate
So I went down to grab a couple beers

And I got so drunk I ripped my pants
I asked the bouncer for a dance
I thanked him as he threw me out
I woke up at a Waffle House
With a shiner and a wild brunette
She don’t know my real name yet
Well no I ain’t over you

But I’m doin’ my best
Every day and every night
Hangin’ on by a thread
That’s stretched just a little too tight
If I can’t find some peace of mind
I’ll take what I can get
I ain’t doin’ much good
But I’m doin’ my best

I decided I’d get smart
And have a long talk with my heart
At some quiet spot outside of town

So I took my best friend’s Pontiac
I drove it like a maniac
Right into the reservoir
I guess we ain’t best friends no more
Just my luck a cop came by
Who I beat up in junior high
He said I better have a good excuse

I said I’m doin’ my best
Every day and every night
Hangin’ on by a thread
That’s stretched just a little too tight
If I can’t find some peace of mind
I’ll take what I can get
I ain’t doin’ much good
But I’m doin’ my best

Some day I just might join the human race again
If I can ever find a place to show my face again
Yeah I’m doin’ my best

I said I’m doin’ my best
Every day and every night
Hangin’ on by a thread
That’s stretched just a little too tight
If I can’t find some peace of mind
I’ll take what I can get
I ain’t doin’ much good
But I’m doin’ my best
I’m doin’ my best
I’m doin’ my best
