a quick update on mothers day

i’m really diggin my work schedule that gives me every other friday off. mandy got into town thursday and we pretty much hung out all evening, then i crashed early for no good reason. friday she got off work early and i took her to see where i work and then we went by the gun range where i made a fool of myself shooting five stand. i really need to shoot more often to get my skillz back.

saturday was rather uneventful. i sat at home, alone, most of the day and played need for speed most wanted. mandy, neo, and i got together for dinner. what was suppose to be nerd night turned into a trip to chilis with my family for dinner and then a trip to lowes to look at home appliances and gardening ideas. heh, yea, we live on the wild side.

last night mandy started getting dizzy and has kind of a rash thing going on. she’s taken some benadryl and after a long night of restless sleep, she’s feeling a bit better today. i’m sure she’ll post more about it in her blog.

thats all for now, ya’ll take care. happy mothers day to all the mothers out there.

no straw for my drink

today was a long day. everyone was out of the office or in meetings at lunch, so liane told me to sign out of the phone and go get us lunch. this means we basically shut down the help desk because everyone was out. it really was not that big of a deal because it was a slow morning. but this afternoon… was busy. as soon as people could leave, they left. when 6 came around, i logged out of everything and left.

the drive to and from work normally do not bother me but lately, after these long days, i just don’t want to make that drive home. recently, i found a new way to come home. i’ve cut my trip down to just under 45 minutes. and today, going to and from work, the traffic was really light so i was able to buzz through. i have been making it to work in 30 minutes, but the state troopers are increasing in numbers on my side of the traffic flow so i’m having to really watch my speed.

earlier on the news, there was a story with a guy who robbed a bank in a grocery store by telling the teller he had a bomb. wtf… i’d be like… pics or shens. poor guy was probably just disgruntled about the gas prices. he walks in in plain clothes barely concealing his face with a ball cap. you cant tell me he really thought he’d get away with it. *sigh* … the stupidity.

on into the news, they keep focusing on this bad weather up north of plano. that viewing area gets their news out of oklahoma. probably around lake texoma. ch5, in the dfw market breaks away from regular news to cover the bad weather. they just said there is a tornado on the ground… but those people did not hear it from ch5… i thought they where the highest rated news channel in the dfw market. what the crap…

i’ll quit whining now. need for speed most wanted is a fun game. but i got arrested and lost my car tonight so i’ll have to start my career over tomorrow. :(

ya’ll take care. mandy comes home the day after tomorrow. the day after that is my day off.

oh yea, i’ll officially be a spe employee monday. w00t.

a case of the mondays

mandy headed out for austin this morning. she’ll be there till thursday. i kind of think it’ll be good for her to get out and just chill for a few days.

today i signed my offer letter for work. after i took an hour lunch to find a bank of america in plano, i headed back to the office. the hr lady stopped me and gave me my paper work for my drug test so i went ahead and ran to do that. it was right down the road so i was only gone for 15 minutes. right after lunch i helped with the technology orientation for our new girl in it. she seems pretty cool. married with a son, she’s from russia and speaks german and russian fluently. kind of inspiring when you meet someone with such heritage.

tonight i bought need for speed most wanted. i’ve been wanting this game for a while and figured with mandy gone, it’d give me something to stay busy with this week. the bad part is, i’m afraid it’ll be more of a distraction than i need. but we’ll see. during my drive home, susan called and i ended up meeting her at on the border. stephanie and the kids where there, just finishing eating when i walked in. it was funny because about everyone in otb knows my whole family because we frequent the place.

hopefully tomorrow will not be so busy at work. today we where slammed for no good reason. twas a monday though.

ya’ll take care.

airplanes and muffin mix

it’s been a while since i last logged into this here blog. i keep telling myself that i’ll update, but i never do. there for a week or two i was pulling in a lot of hits every day. then i nubbed out.

last night was mandy’s work annual formal dinner where they go over the last year’s budget and give out service awards. afterwards is casino night where you play with fake money and at the end, turn it in for tickets. then you submit your tickets for prizes. last night the dinner was held at the c.r. smith museum. very neat place with all sorts of american airlines memorabilia. even one of the original d-3’s you can walk inside of and see what it was like back when aa was ‘getting off the ground’. ..heh heh… the prizes for casino night where destinations to different parts of texas and then 3 sets of two round trip airfare tickets to anywhere in the united states or canada. pretty cool. this morning, mandy and i went to have dinner with two of mandy’s co-workers and their husbands. mandy will be at a trade fair in austin all this coming week. :(
not much else has been going on here. i’ve been adjusting to my work schedule. with an hour commute one way, i’ve learned to use the time to think and cool down from the busy days at work, so that when i get home, things can move on before it’s time to sleep and repeat. still, sometimes i feel like i should be on the back of a shampoo bottle though; rinse, repeat.

some of you noticed my cell phone is not working. the reason is that i went 1000 minutes over my minutes for the month of march and come to find out, i did not have any roll over minutes to cover me. i had been using them little by little, it caught up to me. so my cell bill for the month of march was $600. at the time i was between jobs with the citigroup contract and the job i’m at now so i could not make the payment right away. cingular decided to cut the service to my phone and tack on extra fees for non payment; even after i talked to them to try to work something out. so now, my bill is up to $1200 that’s due by the end of the month. we’ll see if that happens. it aggravates me that cingular repeatedly refuses to work with me on a payment schedule because i could easily get it all paid off given some time to gather money to continue paying my other bills. …eh…

other than that, gas is freakin outrageous. $60 will not even get me a full tank. i use two tanks of gas a week with regular driving. do the math.

i want this land… to turn into a huge underground LAN arena and co-location. that’d be to sweet.

i guess if i cant have that, i want this place. it looks beautiful. to bad that area is prone to severe weather. i’d be more worried about upkeep than the price of the house and land. i told neo it could be “the-spot villa of east texas.” it has a ring to it eh?

hehe, while i’m passing out links, i’ll leave you with some vanilla ice…
