lots of stuffs

it’s been a while since i updated. here’s a rundown of the recent shenanigans.

  • truck rolled over 150,000 miles
  • mandy and i went to the “body worlds” exhibit with one of her friends
  • work has been crazy busy with upgrades and people out
  • the last payment on my truck is due this week
  • installed linux on my laptop but went back to windows when because ndiswrapper does not support my internal wireless card. i have purchased a pcmcia card that should work, i might try again
  • mandy got a nikon d50. (i just want a nice blog camera)
  • spent most of last weekend playing age of empires III with neo and hambone

thats been the gist of things. i mostly come home from work and do anything but get on the computer these days.

today i woke up with a bad headache and was late to work. then around lunch as my boss was taking my group out to lunch for our help on a project; i left for home instead. i’ve spent most of the day catching up on old podcasts while staring at the wall or the inside of my eyelids. i am feeling a bit better now, but the migraine still has me groggy. bleh.

tonight i upgraded to wordpress 2.1. it’s very spiffy with the spell check and the ajax-like admin interface. if your running wp, check it out. while you type out a post or page, it autosaves it as a draft if you stop typing for a few seconds.

anyways, i think thats it for now. shoutout to billy bratt, word to your mother.

google.com/ig

so i just refreshed my google.com/ig page and i see they are now putting timestamps on all of my rss feeds and a little plus icon that allows you to preview the post. this is awesome!

my only question is, have they always done that? have i just missed it until now? or are they only showing because i’m on firefox 1.5 on linux? hmm.

if your unfamiliar with www.google.com/ig , i highly recomend you set your homepage on your preferred browser to it. you can then setup news feeds or rss feeds of your favorite blogs…errhuhhhmmm…. along with tons of other neat widgets you can add like pacman or oogleface.

again, google amazes me with a new feature that i did not know i wanted.

back in cowtown

i made it back to fort worth safely friday afternoon.  overall i learned a bit and had fun managing my own.  it turned out to be a good trip for me in alot of ways.

since i’ve been back i’ve done nothing more than take it easy.  yesterday i did alot of sitting around and mandy and i watched talladega nights.  last night, i took my truck to my bro-n-laws shop and got his help changing my fan belt pulley.  so now my truck does not squeek and grind so badly.

this morning i awoke with every intention in going to church.  whenever i got around too it, i had engulfed myself into a linux install on a tempoary hdd i stuck in my laptop.  i was mostly looking for proof of concept for my core laptop needs.  everything would have worked fine, if the wireless worked.  after messing with ndiswrapper for most of the afternoon, neo looked at it after diner tonight.  i finally gave up after fedora could not enable eth1 at boot, then after i bipassed it, it would not load the gnome login screen.  bleh.  i’ll give it some more time.  ultimately i would like to run linux as my primary OS on all of my machines, but there will probobly always be something that causes me to hang back, either software or hardware i will want.

anyways, tis another week.  this is a short week, with this friday being my day off.  i have not worked a full week at the office since before christmas.  next week is gonna suck.  heh.

night all.

in the teens

no ice this morning in houston.  it’s freakin cold outside.  they are calling for ice tonight and into tomorow.  this is the same thing the weather people did in dallas over the weekend.  tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow…

le sigh.  i’m going to class.

rain rain go away

i got to my hotel around 10 last night.  the drive from the airport to here took longer than i expected.  i took a wrong turn when pulling away from the rental car place.  but i made it!

it’s raining like crazy here.  the news says two inches an hour!  we are expecting ice tonight and into tomorrow.  i’ll have to find out what my training says about icy roads.  i dont wanna drive a rental car i’ve never driven before in the ice. :(

the news down here keeps talking to the people up in dfw.  looks like today turned into quite the ice storn up there.  my work sent out emails that they will not open till 10 and a bunch of people emailed that they would not be in at all.  ..the one day i’m out… le sigh.

heh, i should head to training soon.
