life has been flying by lately. it seems like mandy and i just work and work and before we know it, the weekends are over and we’re going back to work. it’s really not that bad, but we’ve just been crazy busy.
it’s good to see the stars beginning to clean up their game. i think that turco has been taking a lot of heat for loosing the games, but our defense lines really need to start cleaning up their act and trust turcalicious to stop the pucks, that is what we pay him to do. if you’re a dallas stars fan, follow www.twitter.com/dallasstars. it’s normally myself, @neotsn, or @txsarge calling the games, live.
the shield is getting really good. we’re down to about 4 shows left of the series. i’m not sure what’s going to happen. it seems like mandy and i work out some ideas of what the next show will be about, then the show ends and we’re left confused, trying to figure out what’s next. i’ve never seen every single episode of a tv show. i’ve seen most of the simpsons, and a lot of the south parks, but the shield is just an awesome show. now i’m looking for ideas on what show to get caught up in next. i’ve been thinking about renting the soprano’s from netflix for mandy and i to watch start to finish. hmmm.
i’m working again this friday night do do an offline defrag of some of our exchange 2007 databases. hopefully saturday i’ll make it out of the house, unlike this last weekend. i keep feel like i’m getting sick, so i’m not sure if it’s just from staring at a computer for so long or not going out to do things like mandy and i used to. bleh, we’re working on getting back on track.
thanksgiving is coming up soon. mandy’s birthday is even sooner. i cannot believe we’re about to see 2008 say goodbye, but to be honest, i’m looking forward to our cruise coming up in march.

been thinking of replacing my xv6700 for a few weeks now. i think the new blackberry is a smart choice between the newer expensive windows mobiles phones and the iphone. i want to stay on verizon, but i would like to know if their version of the storm will be a world phone, since the majority of their phone selection are on the CDMA network only, and most countries outside of north america are gsm only.

it’s late. i’ve been having a hard time getting to sleep lately. then, when i get to sleep, i tend to wake up around 3 or 4 sneezing and needing a drink. i’ll get up, then sleep in and be late for work. yeah, it sucks, if i’m going to be late to work, i’d at least like to get extra sleep in return…
i leave for london next wednesday. i’ll be gone for a week and a half. most of my time will be spent helping with the office move, relocating several servers, and getting the new internet setup with the new voip system, the isp is bringing in.
work has been going better recently. we’ve finished the first round of pci tasks and now we’re just nailing everything down and getting things lined up to complete our full baseline audit by year end. we’ve got a lot of small projects going on here and there, but things are becoming more manageable with better communication taking place between all the worker ants and the management.
the dogs are good, and mandy and i are doing great. we spent this last weekend with our friends and family, and mandy seems to have gotten a lot of photo edit’s off of her plate. the rest of this month and on into october look pretty busy for us, but we’re looking forward to our cruise next march.
we watched the first episode of the 9th season of the shield tonight. looks like this season is going to be good, but bitter sweet knowing this is the planned final season.
you guys take care.

it’s been so long since i updated. i need to get back to writing some real content… think i’ll put it on my calendar…
quakecon was alot of fun. i went in without any expectations, and it really turned out to be a good relaxing time. jason even came up from work friday night.

this weekend, hambone and i went out to rogcon to watch the hardworkshop. it was interesting. i remember when quakecon was that small. my advice to the rogcon guys would be to offset the quakecon even, by holding their weekend-o-games in the late fall (it’s not like texas fall’s hold much bad weather).
anyway, back to a work week. all of the directors and senior managers are at a staff retreat this week, so it should be pretty quiet around the office. hopefully i’ll get some good time to push some PCI stuff on through. the PCI compliance audit we’re doing has generated a lot of work. not hard work, but very time consuming work. our deadline is august 31. i’m sure i’ll be putting in some serious hours over the next few weeks. then, the second week of september, i’m off to london for a week to assist in the office move going on. i’m looking foward to going to london, i’m not looking foward to the travel.
mandy got a d-300 this weekend. she was messing around tonight and snagged this picture.

we went walking around the stockyards tonight, i’ll get my pictures up sometime soon…
happy monday, talk to you real soon.

I woke up crying late at night
when I was very young.
I had dreamed my father
had passed away and gone.
My world revolved around him
I couldnt lay there anymore.
So I made my way down the mirrored hall
and tapped upon his door.
And I said “Daddy, I’m so afraid
how will I go on with you gone that way?
Don’t wanna cry anymore
so may I stay with you?”
And he said “That’s my job,
that’s what I do.
Everything I do is because of you,
To keep you safe with me.
That’s my job you see.”
Later we barely got along
this teenage boy and he.
Most of the fights it seems
were over different dreams,
we each held for me.
He wanted knowledge and learning.
I wanted to fly out west.
Said, “I could make it out there
if I just had the fare.
I got half, will you loan me the rest?”
And I said “Daddy, I’m so afraid,
there’s no guarantee in the plans
I’ve made and if I should fail,
who will pay my way back home?”
And he said “That’s my job
that’s what I do.
Everything I do is because of you
to keep you safe with me.
That’s my job you see.”
Every person carves his spot
and fills the hole with light.
And I pray someday I might
light as bright as he.
Woke up early one bright fall day
to spread the tragic news.
After all my travel, I settled down
within a mile or two.
I make my living with words and rhyme
and all this tragedy
Should go into my head and out instead
as bits of poetry.
But I say “Daddy, I’m so afraid,
how will I go on with you gone this way?
How can I come up with a song to say
I love you?”
That’s my job, That’s what I do
Everything I do is because of you
to keep you safe with me.
That’s my job you see.
Everything I do is because of you
to keep you safe with me.
